The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Sokoto Branch (Caliphate Bar), has officially unveiled the theme and logo for the 2026 Caliphate Bar Law Week, scheduled to hold from 9th to 16th April 2026.
The unveiling took place on 31st January 2026 during the Branch’s Monthly General Meeting and Capacity Training Programme, which featured a lecture on “The New Tax Act 2025: Applicability and Consequences on Law Firms and Legal Practitioners in Nigeria”, held at the NBA Secretariat, Sokoto.

The ceremony was jointly carried out by the Chairman of the Law Week Committee, Prof. Ibrahim Abdullahi, SAN, and the Chairman of the NBA Sokoto Branch, Barrister Rashidat Mohammed.
They were supported by several distinguished members of the Bar, including Nuhu Adamu, Esq. (Former Attorney-General of Sokoto State), G. O. Uwadiae, Esq., A. Y. Abubakar, Esq., Aisha Kaoje (Director of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice, Sokoto State), Prince Ahmed Adewoyin, Esq., Aisha Mohammed Dan Tsoho, Esq., mni, Christian Uche, Esq. of the Nigerian Army 8 Battalion, Sokoto, and Salmanu Jabo, Esq. (Assistant Secretary of the Law Week Committee), alongside other dignitaries.

The unveiling set the tone for preparations towards what is widely anticipated to be one of the most impactful gatherings of legal minds in Sokoto State and across sister states of the Federation.
The theme for the 2026 Law Week is “SECURED NATION, SECURED FUTURE.” The theme underscores the principle that national security is the bedrock of sustainable development and prosperity.
A secured nation protects its citizens, fosters stability, promotes peace, and creates an enabling environment for growth.
Within the Nigerian context, this speaks to addressing insecurity, strengthening the economy, and enhancing public trust, objectives that align squarely with the Nigerian Bar Association’s role as the voice of the downtrodden and a vanguard of the rule of law.
Explaining the symbolism of the Law Week logo, Prof. Ibrahim Abdullahi, SAN, noted that it is designed as a three-sided dice, brightly coloured and closely knit together, with one dice depicted with an open door devoid of the bright colours of the others.
According to him, the dice represent the nation, while the bright colours signify its vast potentials.
When all doors are closed and uniformly bright, the nation reflects a safe and secure home. However, an open door symbolizes insecurity, which not only threatens the affected part but also undermines the collective future of the entire nation.
He emphasized that the open door can be closed through the instrumentality of the law to guarantee a secured nation and a secured collective future, issues that will be robustly explored during the Law Week.
Prof. Abdullahi further stated that the theme and logo reflect the power of law to shape society and uphold justice, assuring members of insightful discussions, engaging sessions, and valuable networking opportunities in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
He added that details of the programme, speakers, and other activities would be communicated in due course as preparations continue towards delivering a world-class and memorable Law Week.
Following the unveiling, the Chairman of the NBA Sokoto Branch also commissioned a dedicated water project for the NBA Secretariat, a move widely described as timely and practical in addressing water-related challenges at the Secretariat.
Members commended the initiative and called on other NBA branches to replicate similar projects for the benefit of their members.
The commissioning was performed by Nuhu Adamu, Esq. and A. Y. Abubakar, Esq., respectively. The project was completed and fully operational at the time of commissioning.
