Members of the Nigerian Bar Association gathered yesterday to pay their last respect to a man adjudged to have been a great President of the Bar by all standards. Lawyers all over the country were led by the President of the NBA, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau,OON,SAN and all members of the National Executive Committee to pay respect to the late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,CON,SAN who was the association’s president between 2008 – 2010 before becoming Governor of Ondo State.
The members of the National Executive and Members of the NBA were in large numbers at the Valedictory Session held in honor of the late NBA President at the High Court in Ibadan presided over by the Chief Judge of Oyo State.
Also, in attendance were the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, GCON, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi,SAN, the Governor of Ondo State Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Oyo State, several Judges and Senior Advocates of Nigeria from all across the country.
The delegation thereafter moved to the Aare Afe Babalola Bar Centre for the Lawyers’ Tribute Session, where lawyers again thronged to the venue to share experiences and relive their times with the late former NBA President.
Aketi will be sorely missed by all.
