The much-anticipated 2025 Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference (NBA-AGC) officially commenced today, Monday, August 18, with the traditional curtain-raiser, its Football Tournament. The opening match, held at the UNEC Stadium, Enugu, set the tone for a week of activities blending professional discourse with camaraderie and recreation.
In a symbolic gesture marking the official start of the tournament, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chairman, Ikeazor Akaraiwe, SAN, performed the ceremonial kick-off on behalf of the AGC Planning Committee (AGCPC) Chairman, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN.

The opening encounter saw the NBA Enugu Branch square off against the NBA Ikeja Branch, drawing enthusiastic support from members and spectators.
The tournament, a regular highlight of the AGC, continues to provide an avenue for delegates to bond beyond the courtroom, reinforcing the NBA’s tradition of fostering unity, fitness, and friendly competition among its members.
The football tournament remains one of the most popular social events at the Annual General Conference, offering delegates an opportunity to relax and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship while gearing up for the robust intellectual sessions that define the AGC.
More fixtures are expected in the coming days as different NBA branches battle for glory on the pitch, adding vibrancy to what promises to be a memorable conference in Enugu.
