The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has confirmed that Prof. Ebenezer Durojaye, an accomplished human rights scholar and Head of the Socio-Economic Rights Project at the Dullah Omar Institute, University of the Western Cape, will serve as a panelist at a breakout session during the NBA Annual General Conference 2025 in Enugu.
The session, themed “Thirty Years After Beijing,” is scheduled for Monday, 25th August 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the International Conference Centre. It will revisit the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark framework for gender equality, while examining the progress achieved, the challenges still faced, and the opportunities that lie ahead for advancing women’s rights across different sectors.

Prof. Durojaye, who has published widely on constitutionalism, socio-economic rights, reproductive health, and gender justice in Africa, brings deep expertise to the conversation. His scholarship has critically addressed how cultural and legal barriers affect women’s rights and has consistently advocated for substantive equality approaches in the interpretation of constitutional protections.
The breakout session forms part of the wider NBA AGC 2025, themed “Stand Out, Stand Tall,” and is expected to provide legal practitioners, policymakers, and gender advocates with practical insights on strengthening frameworks that support women’s empowerment in Nigeria and beyond.
