The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced that its 2026 Annual General Conference (AGC) will be hosted in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on a clear condition — that a democratically elected governor will be in office at the time of the event.
This declaration was made by the NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, during his address to members at the 2025 Annual General Meeting going on in Enugu. According to him, the Association remains committed to upholding democracy, constitutionalism, and good governance, hence the choice of Port Harcourt is tied to the assurance that the state will be under democratic leadership.
