Enugu, Nigeria—August 28, 2025, At the Annual General Meeting segment of the ongoing 67th Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference (NBA-AGC) in Enugu, NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, announced that Port Harcourt will host the NBA-AGC 2026, “if all goes well”.
The declaration drew a rousing standing ovation from members—particularly the NBA Port Harcourt Branch—marking a celebratory moment for the city that had originally been slated to host the 2025 AGC. The 2025 conference was relocated to Enugu in view of a state of emergency declared in Rivers State, with Enugu stepping in as host.
President Osigwe also reiterated the establishment of a Welfare Pro Bono Fund and confirmed that NBA branches will set up Pro Bono Help Desks, to be manned by NYSC members, in a bid to expand access to justice and deepen the Association’s service to the public.
Addressing security concerns, the President noted that despite speculation about insecurity in the South-East, the conference has, from its inception to date, recorded no incidents or threats. He thanked the Enugu State Government for its support and commended the Conference Planning Committee (CPC) members for their vital roles in the success of the 2025 AGC.
