The healthy lawyer is not your typical lawyer. While most lawyers may be seen as overworked and stressed, the healthy lawyer knows the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
From his tailored suits to his occasional indulgence in other bar activities, Suits & Sneakers understand the value of taking care of both his physical and mental well-being. He knows that being a successful lawyer is not just about winning cases but also about staying healthy and energized to continue delivering top-notch legal services.
As Nigerian lawyers, we’re no strangers to high-pressure careers, long hours, and demanding caseloads. But in our pursuit of justice, we often neglect one crucial aspect: our own well-being.
The legal profession is notoriously demanding, both physically and mentally. Lawyers often work long hours, sacrificing sleep, exercise, and social connections. This can lead to burnout, decreased productivity, and a host of health problems.
Why Health Matters for Lawyers
1. Improved focus and productivity: Regular exercise boosts cognitive function, helping lawyers stay focused and productive, even during long hours.
2. Better stress management: Exercise is a natural stress-reliever, reducing anxiety and depression.
3. Enhanced creativity: Physical activity stimulates creativity, helping lawyers think outside the box and find innovative solutions.
4. Role modelling healthy habits: By prioritizing their own health, lawyers set a positive example for clients, colleagues, and the wider community.

Finally, many thanks to the Chairman of the Yenagoa branch – Mr. C. B. Kekemeke on the invite to join your Saturday road walks. My last exercise before this was at the just concluded Annual General Conference, in Enugu –
