Tinted Glass Policy: Federal High Court Orders Police to Maintain Status Quo

The Federal High Court sitting in Warri division has ordered all parties to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive issues, and also granted leave to the plaintiff/applicant in the ongoing challenge to the tinted glass permit policy to serve court processes on the Inspector General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force by substituted means.

In its ruling, the court directed that the Originating Summons, Motion on Notice, and the Order of Court be served on the 1st and 2nd defendants through FedEx courier service. The court further ordered that the second defendant be served through the office of the Inspector General of Police.

According to the order, any officer who signs for the documents on behalf of the Inspector General will be deemed to have received valid service on both defendants.

The court also directed that the defendants be put on notice to appear and show cause why the reliefs sought by the plaintiff should not be granted.
