“Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo (1965 – 2025): A Lawyer, Leader, and Statesman Gone Too Soon” – NBA mourns

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) received with shock the news of the passing of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who died earlier today at the age of 60.

His death is a painful loss, not only to his family and the Government of Bayelsa State, but to the legal community and the nation as a whole. Senator Ewhrudjakpo was not just a public servant; he was also a lawyer who carried the values of our profession into his work in government. He served with dignity, a calm spirit, and a clear commitment to justice and development.

Despite prompt medical attention, he sadly passed away, leaving all of us in deep grief. His humility, steady leadership, and quiet but firm dedication to public service earned him genuine respect everywhere he served.

The NBA extends heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, the Government and people of Bayelsa State, and especially to the family of the late Deputy Governor. We pray that God grants them strength, comfort, and peace at this difficult time.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo will be remembered as a gentleman in public life, a dependable lawyer, and a leader who gave his best to his people. His passing is a reminder of how fragile life can be and how important it is to serve with purpose.

We pray for the peaceful repose of his soul. Amen.
