YLEAC–NBA SLP Announces Young Litigators’ Debate Competition 2026

The Young Lawyers’ Emerging Advocates Committee (YLEAC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Section on Legal Practice (SLP), has announced the Young Litigators’ Debate Competition 2026, an initiative designed to encourage young lawyers to demonstrate their oratory excellence, advocacy skills, and legal acumen.

In furtherance of this objective, the Committee hereby calls on all NBA Branches nationwide, through their respective Young Lawyers’ Forums (YLFs), to participate by nominating two (2) young lawyers each to represent their Branches in the competition.

Competition Stages and Timeline:

The competition will be conducted in the following stages:

1. Entry Stage (19 January – 1 February 2026):

Nomination of Branch representatives.

2. Selection Stage (Commences 1 February 2026):

Each nominated team shall submit a written article of not more than five (5) pages on selected topics to be communicated. Successful entries will qualify for the next stage.

3. Elimination/Quiz Stage:

Themed “How Well Do You Know the Law and the Nigerian Bar Association.”

4. Presentation/Semi-Final Stage:

Selected teams will make oral presentations before a panel.

5. Grand Finale/Final Stage:

To be held during the NBA–SLP 2026 Annual Conference.
