ABRIDGED PROFILE OF J. G. TAIDI, SAN

Jonathan Gunu Taidi, SAN is a distinguished legal practitioner, activist, and humanitarian.

He obtained his LLB from the University of Jos in 1999 and was called to the Nigerian Bar on 23rd January 2001.

A committed Bar leader, he has held several leadership positions within the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Minna Branch, including Secretary (2008), Vice Chairman (2010), and Chairman (2012).

His tenure was marked by institutional reforms, revitalization of the pro bono scheme, and ardent advocacy for judicial financial autonomy, leading to notable improvements in infrastructure and welfare within the judiciary.

He was appointed a Notary Public of Nigeria in 2014 and and served as General Secretary, Nigerian Bar Association (2018 – 2020) and became a Life Bencher in 2026. He has maintained an active involvement in both local and international legal communities.

He is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), the American Bar Association (ABA), and an Associate Member of the Asia Pacific Bar Association (APBA).

He has also served in various national capacities, including as Secretary of the North Central Panel of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) and as a Prosecutor for the LPDC.

Widely regarded as a consummate Bar man and reform advocate, Taidi (SAN) remains committed to advancing a modern, responsive, and globally aligned Nigerian Bar. He was conferred with the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2023.

He enjoys music, reading, and traveling, and is happily married with three children.
