Children’s Day: NBA 3rd VP, Zainab Aminu Garba Calls for Greater Protection and Care for Nigerian Children

As we commemorate this year’s Children’s Day, I extend my warmest love and heartfelt wishes to every Nigerian child the precious girl child and boy child whose dreams, innocence, and potential remain the greatest hope for our nation’s future.

Today is not just a day of celebration; it is a solemn reminder of our collective responsibility to protect, nurture, educate, and empower every child regardless of background, gender, religion, or social status.

Every child deserves to grow in an environment free from fear, violence, abuse, neglect, discrimination, child labour, trafficking, hunger, and exploitation. Every child deserves access to quality education, healthcare, emotional support, and equal opportunities to dream, grow, and succeed.

As a mother, legal practitioner, and child advocate my heart goes especially to the vulnerable children across our communities, children displaced by insecurity, children denied education, children living in poverty, and those whose voices are too often unheard. We must never become comfortable with a society where children suffer silently while their futures hang in uncertainty.

The girl child deserves protection, encouragement, and the freedom to pursue her ambitions without fear of discrimination, abuse, or limitation. She must be allowed to learn, lead, and thrive in dignity.

The boy child equally deserves guidance, emotional support, moral upbringing, and positive mentorship so he can grow into a responsible, compassionate, and productive member of society.

As members of the legal profession and as citizens, we must continue to advocate for stronger protection of children’s rights and ensure that laws meant to safeguard children are fully implemented and respected. The future we desire for Nigeria can only be built by raising children in love, justice, discipline, peace, and opportunity.

To every Nigerian child; you are important, you are valued, and your future matters. Never stop believing in yourself and your dreams.

May this Children’s Day inspire renewed commitment from government, parents, institutions, and society at large to place the welfare and protection of our children at the centre of national development.

Happy Children’s Day to all our amazing children.
