As Power, Justice and Accountability Collide, Adamawa Attorney-General Heads to NBA Gombe Law Week for High-Stakes Governance Dialogue

In every democracy, there comes a moment when critical institutions must confront difficult questions: Who guards judicial independence? How far should legislative oversight go? And what role must lawyers play when the balance of power is tested?

Those questions will take center stage at the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Gombe Branch Law Week as Afraimu K. Jingi, Esq., Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Adamawa State, joins a distinguished panel of legal and public policy leaders for what is shaping up to be one of the event’s most anticipated sessions.

Scheduled for 16th June, 2026, at the ICC Auditorium, Gombe, the forum will examine the thought-provoking topic:

“Judicial Independence and Legislative Oversight: The Role of the Bar in Balancing Institutional Powers.”

At a time when conversations surrounding constitutional governance, institutional accountability, and the rule of law are increasingly occupying national discourse, the participation of the chief law officer of Adamawa State adds significant weight to the conversation.

As Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Afraimu K. Jingi, Esq. occupies a unique position at the intersection of law, policy, and governance.

His perspective is expected to enrich discussions on how democratic institutions can effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities while preserving mutual respect, independence, and public confidence.

The session forms part of the NBA Gombe Branch Law Week holding from 12th to 19th June, 2026, under the theme:

“Strengthening Justice Through Reforms: Lawyers as Agents of Change.”

The NBA Gombe Branch is therefore extending an invitation to legal practitioners, judges, legislators, government officials, law students, researchers, and members of the public to attend and contribute to this important conversation.

As the nation continues to navigate complex governance challenges, the question is no longer whether institutions should be accountable, but how accountability can coexist with independence.

On June 16, some of the answers may emerge in Gombe.

  • Venue: ICC Auditorium, Gombe
  • Date: 16th June, 2026
  • Event: NBA Gombe Branch Law Week 2026

The dialogue is set. The stakeholders are gathering. The public is invited.
