Distinguished Colleagues, The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has announced the appointment of an Electronic Voting Service Provider and a Data Protection Officer for the 2026 NBA National Elections scheduled to hold on 20 July 2026.
According to a notice issued by the Committee, the appointments followed a Request for Proposal (RFP/ECNBA/ESP/2026) published on 21 April 2026, inviting competent technology companies to submit bids for the management of IT operations, development, and supervision of a secure digital platform for electronic voting.
The ECNBA disclosed that nineteen (19) bids were received and subjected to a rigorous review and evaluation process. With professional advice from its Technical Consultant, the Committee shortlisted six (6) service providers whose proposals met the minimum technical and eligibility requirements.
The shortlisted entities subsequently proceeded through an interview and further assessment stage. The exercise, held on Monday, 25 May 2026, also involved the participation of some candidates and/or their nominated IT consultants, whose contributions assisted the Committee in reaching its final decision on the engagement of two key entities necessary for carrying out its mandate.
Following the conclusion of the selection process, the ECNBA announced the appointment of Mikrodigital Connect as the Electronic Voting Service Provider (EVSP) for the 2026 NBA National Elections. The company is authorized and mandated to manage the IT operations, develop, deploy, and supervise a secure digital platform for the conduct of the elections in accordance with the terms of its engagement and the requirements of the NBA Constitution 2015 (as amended in 2025).
The Committee also announced the appointment of Thanelinc Nigeria Limited as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) for the 2026 NBA National Elections. According to the notice, the appointment is in furtherance of the ECNBA’s commitment to protecting the personal data of NBA members and ensuring compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and all applicable data protection regulations.
Thanelinc Nigeria Limited will be responsible for ensuring that all voter data collected, processed, and stored in connection with the elections comply with applicable data protection laws and best practices. Its functions are also as outlined in Paragraph 10 of Part II of the Second Schedule to the NBA Constitution.
The ECNBA further stated that Mikrodigital Connect and Thanelinc Nigeria Limited will work collaboratively and in a coordinated manner throughout the electoral process to ensure the integrity, security, and seamless conduct of the 2026 NBA National Elections.
The appointments take effect from 1 June 2026 and shall subsist until the conclusion of the 2026 NBA National Elections, the formal handover of all electoral materials and data to the ECNBA, and the completion of all necessary post-election reports and audits, unless otherwise determined by the Committee.
