The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has issued the official Guide to Electronic Voting for the 2026 NBA National Officers and General Council of the Bar (GCB) Elections scheduled to hold on 20 July 2026.
According to the Committee, the electronic voting platform has been developed and will be managed by Mikrodigital Connect, the officially appointed Electronic Voting Service Provider (EVSP), to ensure a secure, transparent, and seamless voting process for eligible members.
The ECNBA stated that only members whose names appear on the Final Qualified Voters Register will be eligible to participate in the election.
To qualify, a member must possess a valid Supreme Court Number (SCN), have completed the voter verification exercise before the register freeze, maintain valid and updated contact information, and have fulfilled all constitutional dues and payment obligations.
The Committee outlined an eight-step voting process, which requires voters to access the designated voting portal, verify their SCN, request and validate a One-Time Password (OTP), access the electronic ballot, make their selections, review and confirm their choices, and receive a confirmation receipt upon successful submission of their votes.
Voting will commence at 12:01 a.m. WAT on 20 July 2026 and close at 11:59 p.m. WAT on the same day.
To prepare members for the exercise, ECNBA announced that trial messages will be sent between 22 and 27 June 2026, while authentication testing will take place from 4 to 5 July 2026. Election results are expected to be declared on 21 July 2026.
On security measures, the Committee assured members that the platform deploys End-to-End Encryption (SSL/TLS), SCN verification, OTP authentication, immutable audit logs, and real-time monitoring.
It emphasized that complete ballot secrecy is guaranteed and that no individual, including ECNBA officials, personnel of Mikrodigital Connect, or any third party, will have access to a voter’s selections.
The Committee further disclosed that all personal data will be processed in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and relevant regulations. Thanelinc Nigeria Limited has been appointed as Data Protection Officer (DPO) for the elections.
Members experiencing challenges during the voting process have been advised to seek assistance through the official ECNBA support channel at support@ecnba.zohodesk.com.
