Dear Leaders of the Bar, Benchers, Learned Silks, Distinguished Colleagues,
The Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch Caretaker Committee humbly accepts the responsibility to serve as the Caretaker Committee of our great Branch.
We sincerely thank the President of the Nigerian Bar Association for deeming members of this Committee worthy of this noble assignment. We receive this responsibility with a deep sense of humility, duty, and commitment to the unity, stability, and progress of the Abuja Bar.
At this important moment, we appeal to all aspirants, members, and stakeholders to remain calm, and patient. We fully appreciate the concerns, expectations, and interests of all parties, and we assure the entire Abuja Bar that the Committee will be guided at all times by Uniform Byelaw, fairness, equity, transparency, and the overall interest of the Branch.
We are committed to ensuring a seamless, credible, and fair transition process into the next administration. No member, aspirant, or stakeholder will be treated unfairly, and the Committee will work with an open mind and a firm commitment to due process.
The Caretaker Committee wishes to inform the Bar that it will interface with the candidates, and the erstwhile Electoral Committee, and after due consideration, the Committee will adopt a befitting position that will promote peace, fairness, and an all inclusive transition process.
In this regard, a clear roadmap for the transition process shall be published on or before Monday, 15th June, 2026.
We deeply appreciate the patience, support, maturity, and professionalism shown by members of the Abuja Bar so far.
We urge everyone to continue to maintain calm and confidence in the process. Together, we shall navigate this moment peacefully and strengthen the unity and dignity of our Branch.
