The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has released the Preliminary Report of its Election Observation Mission on the Ekiti State Governorship Election. As part of its longstanding commitment to the promotion of democracy, the rule of law, electoral accountability, and good governance, the Association deployed observers across the State to independently monitor and assess the conduct of the election.
The Election Observation Mission was constituted to provide an objective and professional evaluation of the electoral process in accordance with constitutional principles, electoral laws, and internationally accepted standards for democratic elections.
The NBA urges relevant authorities to carefully consider the observations and recommendations highlighted in the report and to take appropriate measures to address identified shortcomings, especially those relating to electoral offences and the protection of the sanctity of the ballot.
As an institution committed to the advancement of democracy and justice, the Bar will continue to engage constructively with stakeholders in promoting transparent, credible, and inclusive electoral processes.
