Whereas the tenure of the Executive Committee of the NBA Porthacourt Branch has expired, and the Branch has failed to conduct elections within the constitutionally prescribed period, thereby creating the need for an interim administrative structure to manage the affairs of the Branch and conduct elections in accordance with the provisions of the NBA Uniform Bye-Laws for Branches.
I hereby constitute a Caretaker Committee for the Branch as follows:
1. IDRIS ABAYOMI SHEHU – CHAIRMAN
2. FRIDAY AZUBUIKE – SECRETARY
3. DR. HILDA DESMOND-IHEKAIRE – MEMBER
The Caretaker Committee shall administer and manage the affairs of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch pending the conduct of elections into the offices of the Branch.
The Committee shall, immediately, act as the Electoral Committee for the Branch and take all necessary steps to organize and conduct free, fair, transparent, and credible elections in accordance with the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association and the NBA Uniform Bye-Laws for Branches.
In the discharge of its responsibilities, the Caretaker Committee shall work in close collaboration with the 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association, who shall provide oversight and guidance to ensure the successful execution of its mandate.
The Committee shall immediately assume office and commence the discharge of its responsibilities with effect from 00.00 Hours (midnight) tonight.
