The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has distanced himself from a message currently circulating on various platforms, which urges lawyers to update their details on the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) portal “in order to vote today.”
In a disclaimer issued this evening, 18th, July 2026, Osigwe categorically denied authorising or sending the message, which also reportedly ends with campaign hashtags.

It has come to my attention that a message is currently being circulated using my name, urging lawyers to update their details on the ECNBA portal “in order to vote today” and ending with campaign hashtags.
I wish to state unequivocally that I did not authorise, approve, or send that message.
I therefore urge members to disregard the message in its entirety.
