UPDATED AGC 2026 PROGRAMME: DELEGATES ADVISED TO TAKE NOTE OF CHANGES TO VENUES AND SCHEDULES

Distinguished Colleagues,

The Nigerian Bar Association wishes to inform all delegates to the 66th Annual General Conference (AGC 2026) that there have been updates to the Conference programme, including changes to the scheduling and venues of some activities.

All delegates are therefore advised to pay close attention to the updated Official Conference Programme attached to this notice and ensure that they familiarise themselves with their respective schedules, session times and venues throughout the Conference.

The Conference, themed “Beyond Limits ’26,” runs from 21–28 August 2026 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and features an extensive programme of plenaries, showcases, breakout sessions, Sections and Forums meetings, social activities and other Conference engagements.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

Monday, 24 August: Nation, Politics & Practice, featuring the Opening Plenary on Democracy & Governance, as well as discussions on policing, politics, elections and the legal profession, alongside multiple specialist breakout sessions.

Tuesday, 25 August: Security, Economy & Enterprise, featuring sessions on insecurity, resource control, tax reforms, banking regulation, cryptocurrency, arbitration, aviation law, sovereign wealth and public procurement, among others.

Wednesday, 26 August: Practice, Power & People, featuring sessions on access to justice, future-ready legal practice, legal fees, public interest law, women in leadership, young lawyers, the power sector, women’s and children’s rights, and inclusion of lawyers with disabilities.
Thursday, 27 August: Sections’ Annual General Meetings at 9:00 AM, followed by the NBA Annual General Meeting at 11:00 AM.

Friday, 28 August: The Conference concludes with the AGC Press Conference at 10:00 AM, followed by the Swearing-In Ceremony at 11:00 AM and departure.

Delegates should also take note of the Conference’s fellowship and social activities, including the Health Walk, Tree Planting/Community Clean-Up, Welcome Cocktail, Opening Ceremony, Cultural Night, Friendship Centre, Football Finals, President’s Dinner and Unbarred.

IMPORTANT

With several activities running concurrently across different tracks, delegates are strongly advised to:

  1. Check the updated programme carefully before each Conference day.
  2. Take note of the time and venue of every session they intend to attend.
  3. Plan ahead for parallel breakout sessions, as delegates may choose one session per time slot.
  4. Arrive at venues early, particularly for plenaries, showcases, meetings and other scheduled activities.
  5. Pay attention to further official announcements from the Nigerian Bar Association and the AGC 2026 Planning Committee should there be any additional adjustments.

The updated programme is attached for the careful attention and guidance of all delegates. Members are encouraged to keep a copy readily accessible throughout the Conference to ensure that they do not miss any session, meeting or activity of interest.

With 45+ sessions, 27 breakout tracks and over 200 speakers, AGC 2026 offers an extensive programme designed to engage the profession across law, governance, technology, business, energy, human rights and professional development.
