Can artificial intelligence transform legal practice in Nigeria, or is the law itself being put on trial?
This thought-provoking question will take centre stage as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Birnin Kebbi Branch (Equity Bar), convenes the first panel session of its 2026 Law Week on 9 June 2026.
The session, titled “Artificial Intelligence’s Impact on Legal Profession in Nigeria: Is Law on Trial?”, promises to ignite conversations on one of the most significant developments confronting the legal profession in the digital age.
Leading the discourse will be Prof. M. L. Ahmadu, Vice Chancellor of Rayhaan University, Birnin Kebbi, who will serve as Lead Discussant. Joining him on the panel are Hon. Justice E. Gakko of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, and Zulkifu Muhammad, an AI and IT expert.
The discussion will be moderated by Hussaini Zakariyau, SAN, FCTI, MCArb, of Savannah Law LP.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries and redefine professional practice across the world, the session is expected to provide a platform for critical engagement on its implications for lawyers, the courts, and the future of justice delivery in Nigeria.
The event is scheduled to commence at 9:30 a.m. at Saffar Guest Inn Ltd, Gesse Phase II, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
With a distinguished lineup of speakers and a topic that sits at the intersection of law and technology, the session is poised to be one of the highlights of the NBA Birnin Kebbi Law Week 2026.
Will artificial intelligence become the legal profession’s greatest ally or its greatest disruption? The Equity Bar is set to provide a forum for that conversation.
