The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, attended the Opening Dinner of the 20th Annual Business Law Conference of the NBA Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL), held under the theme: “Beyond Reforms: Measuring Policy Impact.”
In his remarks, the NBA President commended the NBA-SBL for its remarkable contributions over the past two decades, noting that the Section has consistently demonstrated how members of the legal profession can constructively engage with government and policymakers in advancing reforms that strengthen Nigeria’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
He observed that through its thought leadership, policy advocacy, and sustained engagement with critical stakeholders, the NBA-SBL has successfully positioned the legal profession as a credible and influential force in shaping Nigeria’s economic and business environment.
Speaking on the conference theme, the President described it as timely and thought-provoking. He noted that while governments regularly introduce policies and reforms, there is an equally important need to critically assess their effectiveness, impact, and implementation outcomes. According to him, the conference provides a valuable platform for stakeholders to evaluate existing policies, identify gaps, and propose practical solutions that will ensure that reforms translate into meaningful benefits for businesses, investors, and the wider society.
The NBA President welcomed participants from across Nigeria and abroad and expressed confidence that the deliberations would yield actionable recommendations to strengthen Nigeria’s business and regulatory landscape.
He wished all delegates a productive and impactful conference.
