NBA Deploys Election Monitoring Team for Ekiti State Governorship Election 

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) wishes to inform members and the general public that, in furtherance of its commitment to the promotion of democracy, constitutional governance, electoral integrity, and the rule of law, the Association has deployed a high-level Election Monitoring Delegation to observe the Ekiti State Governorship Election scheduled to hold on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

The delegation is led by the 1st Vice President of the association, Mr. Sabastine Anyia and Chairman of the NBA Monitoring Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye, a distinguished legal practitioner and former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who previously served as Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee.

Other members of the delegation include senior officers and distinguished members of the Nigerian Bar Association, among them:

* Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara, General Secretary

* Mrs. Bridget Edokwe, National Publicity Secretary;

* Mr. Auta Nyada, National Welfare Secretary;

and several other experienced legal practitioners drawn from across the country.

The deployment underscores the NBA’s enduring commitment to supporting credible, transparent, free, and fair electoral processes in Nigeria. The Association will monitor compliance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, electoral laws, regulations, and established democratic norms throughout the electoral process.

Members of the delegation are expected to engage with relevant stakeholders, observe voting procedures, assess compliance with electoral guidelines, and provide independent reports on the conduct of the election.

The Nigerian Bar Association calls on all stakeholders, including political parties, candidates, security agencies, electoral officials, observers, and voters, to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly in order to ensure a credible and successful election.

The NBA remains steadfast in its role as a guardian of democracy, the rule of law, and the protection of the electoral rights of Nigerians.
