NBA Mourns the Passing of Professor Alfred Bandele Kasunmu, SAN

The NBA mourns the passing of Professor Alfred Bandele Kasunmu, SAN, one of Nigeria’s most distinguished legal scholar, Senior Advocate, and elder statesman. His passing marks the end of an extraordinary era in the history of the Nigerian Bar.

Professor Kasunmu was a towering figure whose remarkable career traversed academia, legal practice, public service, and mentorship. As a former Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, former Attorney-General of Lagos State, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and founder of Professor A.B. Kasunmu Chambers, he made enduring contributions to the development of legal education, jurisprudence, and the administration of justice in Nigeria.

For decades, he exemplified the highest ideals of the legal profession through his brilliance, integrity, humility, and commitment to the rule of law. His scholarship shaped generations of lawyers, while his distinguished practice and public service left an indelible imprint on Nigeria’s legal landscape.

The NBA joins the Kasunmu family, the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, the Bench, the Bar, colleagues, former students, and the entire legal community in mourning this monumental loss. We celebrate a life devoted to the advancement of justice, the strengthening of legal institutions, and the mentorship of countless legal practitioners.

Though Professor Kasunmu has departed this earthly realm, his legacy will continue to inspire present and future generations of lawyers. His life remains a testament to excellence, service, and unwavering dedication to the noble profession.

May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and comfort his family and all who mourn him.
