NBA AGC 2025: Diplomacy Meets Gender Equality as Gill Lever Joins Panel on Beijing Declaration Legacy

“Thirty Years After Beijing”: Gill Lever, British Deputy High Commissioner, to Join NBA AGC 2025 Panel on August 25

Enugu, Nigeria — The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has confirmed that Mrs. Gill Lever OBE, the British Deputy High Commissioner in Abuja, will serve as a distinguished panelist at the breakout session titled “Thirty Years After Beijing” during the NBA Annual General Conference 2025. The session is scheduled for Monday, 25th August 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.

Lever is a seasoned career diplomat with a portfolio spanning key leadership roles in the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. Her service includes appointments as Deputy Head of Mission in Juba, South Sudan (2022–2023), Head of Overseas Health and Welfare, and senior positions in the Peacekeeping and Southeast Asia Departments in London. Her overseas postings also include Romania, India, and Japan.

NBA 2025 Annual General Conference Preliminary Program Unveiled

In 2021, she was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of her contributions to health and welfare, particularly during the UK’s COVID-19 response. Beyond diplomacy, Lever has also championed humanitarian causes, including establishing child drowning prevention programmes and supporting women’s and children’s initiatives in Vietnam (GOV.UK,).

Her participation in the “Thirty Years After Beijing” session will bring an international lens to the discussion, offering insights into how global frameworks and diplomacy intersect with gender equality progress, institutional transformation, and sustainable solutions.
