Communique issued at the NBA NEC quarterly meeting held on Thursday, 5th February 2026

Dear Colleagues,

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigerian Bar Association met in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Thursday, 5 February 2026, where members deliberated extensively on key issues affecting the Bar and the nation.

The meeting was well attended and deliberations were robust, frank, and forward-looking. Members of NEC considered several pressing issues affecting the legal profession and the nation at large and arrived at far-reaching resolutions.

Notably, NEC approved and commended the proposed amendment of the Legal Practitioners Act (LPA) as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the legal framework regulating our profession. The Council also strongly condemned the prevailing insecurity in the country and made other important resolutions addressing matters of national concern and the welfare of members.
