In a powerful move to reaffirm the dignity of legal practice and inspire Nigerian lawyers to claim the true worth of their labour, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Remuneration Committee has launched a vibrant nationwide campaign themed “You Worked for It, Earn It.” The campaign, featuring an uplifting blend of professionalism and advocacy, urges lawyers across the country to uphold the principle that every brief should reflect the weight of their expertise and contribution to justice.
The campaign, led by Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, Chairman of the Committee, and Rachael Princewill, Secretary, seeks to promote compliance with the Legal Practitioners Remuneration Order, 2023, which establishes a standardized framework for fair and equitable payment for legal services in Nigeria.
With the resonant message:
“Let every Brief carry the weight of your Worth,”
the Committee emphasizes that the legal profession thrives on skill, time, and intellectual commitment—values that must be duly recognized and compensated.
The newly released campaign image showcases a group of confident female lawyers in full legal regalia, radiating professionalism, unity, and pride in their craft. Over the past months, the NBA Remuneration Committee has embarked on nationwide engagements, collaborating with branch leaders, senior lawyers, and relevant agencies to ensure the full implementation of the Remuneration Order. The initiative underscores the Association’s enduring commitment to lawyers’ welfare and its resolve to eliminate the culture of underpayment within the profession.
