The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced that Beatrice Eyong, UN Women Country Representative to Nigeria and ECOWAS, will serve as a panelist at a breakout session of the NBA Annual General Conference 2025 in Enugu.
The session, titled “Thirty Years After Beijing”, is scheduled for Monday, 25th August 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the International Conference Centre.
It will revisit the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a landmark framework for gender equality, assessing the gains of the past three decades, the challenges still facing women’s rights, and the opportunities for deeper empowerment across sectors.

Eyong, who brings over 35 years of experience in development and gender advocacy, leads UN Women’s work in Nigeria and across the ECOWAS region.
Her efforts have advanced women’s political participation, gender-responsive governance, and legislative reforms aimed at addressing inequality and violence against women.
Her contribution to the NBA AGC 2025 discussion will provide both global and regional perspectives, drawing from her extensive leadership in West and Central Africa, where she has championed policies and programmes that strengthen women’s representation and accelerate sustainable development.
The session forms part of the wider conference theme, “Stand Out, Stand Tall”, which underscores the NBA’s commitment to engaging thought leaders and policymakers in shaping conversations that drive inclusivity, justice, and equality.
