YLF Gwagwalada Holds 2nd Annual Summit on Digital Transformation of Nigeria’s Criminal Justice System

The Young Lawyers Forum (YLF) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gwagwalada Branch (Eagle Bar) is set to host the second edition of its Annual YLF Summit, themed “Embracing the Digital Criminal Justice System in Nigeria.”

The event will take place on Thursday, 6th November 2025, at the Faculty of Law Auditorium, University of Abuja, commencing at 9:00 a.m. prompt.

This year’s summit promises to be a gathering of young legal professionals, jurists, scholars, and justice-sector stakeholders to explore how technology is reshaping criminal justice administration in Nigeria.

The summit will be chaired by My Lord, Hon. Justice A. S. Adepoju, the Presiding Judge of the Gwagwalada Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Her Lordship is widely respected for her judicial depth, integrity, and commitment to advancing justice delivery within the FCT judiciary.

Delivering the keynote address is Professor Adedeji Adekunle, SAN, Lead Faculty at the Juritrust Centre for Socio-Legal Research and Documentation, and former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS).

A renowned scholar and reform advocate, Professor Adekunle is expected to deliver an inspiring keynote on the fusion of technology, law, and innovation in Nigeria’s justice system.

The Chief Host of the event is Clever Owhor, Esq., Chairman of the NBA Gwagwalada Branch (Eagle Bar), whose leadership has brought renewed energy and purposeful direction to the branch.

The Host is Collins Maidoh-Anene, Esq., Chairman of the YLF Gwagwalada Branch, who continues to champion the empowerment of young lawyers through mentorship, digital inclusion, and professional growth initiatives.

This marks the second edition of the YLF Gwagwalada Annual Summit, following the successful maiden edition held in 2024 under a different theme.

The summit has fast become a key platform for fostering intellectual engagement, professional development, and policy discussions among emerging members of the Bar.

The 2025 edition will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions addressing topics such as digital case management, electronic evidence, cybercrime prosecution, data protection, and the evolving role of young lawyers in a technology-driven justice ecosystem.

According to the organizers, the summit represents “a clarion call for young lawyers to embrace innovation and leverage technology as a vital tool for promoting efficiency, transparency, and access to justice in Nigeria.”

Attendance is open to all legal practitioners, law students, and justice-sector professionals. Participants are encouraged to arrive early as the event begins at 9:00 a.m. prompt at the Faculty of Law Auditorium, University of Abuja.
