Today, as we celebrate the International Women’s Day 2026, a day that reminds the world not only of how far women have come, but also of the work that still lies ahead.
It is a day to honour courage, resilience, leadership, and the transformative power of women who dare to challenge limitations and create new possibilities.

Within the legal profession, women have steadily risen through barriers that once seemed immovable. From courtrooms to boardrooms, from academia to public service, women lawyers continue to redefine excellence and leadership.
Yet, even as we celebrate these achievements, we must remain mindful that equality is not a destination we have fully reached, it is a commitment we must continue to pursue.
The NBAWF was founded on the belief that when women in the legal profession are empowered, the entire justice system becomes stronger, more inclusive, and more responsive to society.
Our mission has always been clear: to support, mentor, and amplify the voices of women in the legal profession while advocating for fairness, dignity, and opportunity for all.
Today, we celebrate the women who came before us, the pioneers who entered courtrooms where they were once unwelcome, who spoke up when silence was expected, and who carved pathways where none existed. Their courage laid the foundation upon which we now stand.
We also celebrate the women of today, the advocates, judges, academics, entrepreneurs, and public servants who continue to break new ground.
Every brief argued, every judgment delivered, every law reviewed, and every young lawyer mentored contributes to building a profession that reflects the values of justice and equality.
But perhaps most importantly, we celebrate the women of tomorrow. The young girls watching us today must see that the law is not only a profession they can enter, but one in which they can thrive, lead, and transform society.
As members of the legal profession, we carry a special responsibility. The law is not merely a system of rules, it is a tool for justice, equity, and societal progress.
When women lawyers rise, they bring with them perspectives that enrich legal reasoning, strengthen institutions, and ensure that the voices of the vulnerable are heard.

On this International Women’s Day, I urge all of us, men and women alike to continue fostering environments where talent is nurtured, mentorship is strengthened, and opportunities are expanded.
Let us commit to dismantling barriers that still hinder women’s advancement, whether in leadership, professional recognition, or work-life balance.
The progress we seek cannot be achieved by women alone. It requires partnership, allyship, and a collective commitment to fairness. Together, we can build a legal profession and a society where equality is not aspirational but a lived reality.
To every woman who has faced doubt yet chosen determination, who has encountered obstacles yet persisted with courage, and who has lifted others while rising herself, we celebrate you today.
Let this International Women’s Day remind us that the journey toward equality continues, and that each of us has a role to play in shaping that future.
Together, let us keep breaking barriers, building bridges, and creating a world where every woman has the opportunity to achieve her fullest potential.
Happy International Women’s Day.
Thank you, and God bless.
