NBA AGC 2024: YC Maikyau Leads Health Walk Through Historic Lagos Landmarks, Unites Legal Community

The 2024 Annual General Conference (AGC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) kicked off with a spirited Health Walk led by outgoing NBA President Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN, and President-Elect Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN.

The walk, which began at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), was a fitness display and an educational journey through the historic landmarks of Lagos Island. Participants, including lawyers, judges, and other professionals, walked through significant sites like Tinubu Square and CMS, blending health, history, and connection.

The event was well coordinated, with the presence of the police and DSS ensuring order throughout. The chairperson of the Conference Planning Committee added to the experience by providing historical insights on various buildings along the route, such as the Conoil Towers and the Federal Ministry of Justice. Despite a light drizzle, the participants remained enthusiastic, enjoying music and the shared experience.

The walk concluded at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, where participants were greeted by the cheers of a football match at the end of the morning. The event ended on a high note, with participants enjoying refreshments and lively music, embodying the spirit of unity and well-being that the NBA AGC represents.
