Distinguished Colleagues,
On June 5, 2024, the Chairperson of the NBA Women Forum, Mrs. Chinyere Okorocha, led a delegation to visit the Kano State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Dije Abdu-Aboki. Accompanying Mrs Okorocha were Mrs Mercy Ijato-Agada (treasurer), Fatima Sagir Musa (Kano State Lead), Huwaila Muhammad Ibrahim (head of the Welfare Committee), Ms Chinyere Obasi (national welfare secretary), and other state officers of the NBA Women Forum.
During the visit, Mrs Okorocha briefed the Chief Judge on the Forum’s terms of reference and mandate, emphasising its focus on empowering female lawyers across various sectors, including the bar, bench, academia, public sector, and in-house counsel. She highlighted the Forum’s initiatives to support and uplift female lawyers, ensuring they have the necessary resources and opportunities to excel in their respective fields.
In response, Chief Judge Dije Abdu-Aboki warmly welcomed the delegation and senior members of the judiciary. She expressed her support for the Forum’s initiatives and pledged to collaborate with them on their future events within the state. The Chief Judge’s commitment to supporting the empowerment of female lawyers was evident, and she assured the delegation of her readiness to work together to achieve their common goals.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the relationship between the NBA Women Forum and the judiciary in Kano State, paving the way for more collaborative efforts to enhance the professional development and empowerment of female lawyers in the region.
