The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Udu Branch successfully elected its new Executive Committee on Sunday, July 7th, 2024. J. E. Odohisi, Esq., emerged as the Chairman, securing 57 votes to defeat his opponent, B. M. Jamaho, Esq., who garnered 44 votes.
The election was conducted by a Caretaker Committee led by Chief Ayo Asala, SAN, and was noted for being free, fair, and credible.

Austin E. Nyekigbe, Esq., also emerged victorious, pulling 55 votes to defeat David Omage, Esq., who received 45 votes, thus becoming the Secretary of the branch. The election took place at Wetland Hotel, Mofor, Orhuwhorun Road, in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State, with 106 accredited eligible voters and 101 votes cast.
The voting process commenced at about 2:00 pm and concluded around 4:24 pm. Announcing the results, Chief Ayo Asala, SAN, declared, “With J. E. Odohisi, Esq. pulling the majority votes, I hereby declare him returned as the Chairman and Austin E. Nyekigbe, Esq., having pulled the majority votes in the other election, as Secretary.”
Demonstrating sportsmanship, B. M. Jamaho, Esq. congratulated J. E. Odohisi, Esq. with a handshake and a hug after the results were announced.

In his acceptance speech, Odohisi expressed gratitude to the members for their unity and participation in the peaceful election. He stated, “Today, history has been made. The branch has decided, I want us to keep the unity and work together to move the branch forward.”
Odohisi also thanked the Caretaker Committee for their meticulous conduct of the election and acknowledged his fellow contestants, emphasizing that they are all winners and that the NBA Udu branch must continue to progress.
The highlight of the event was the swearing-in of the new Executive Committee, which comprises:
- J. E. Odohisi, Esq., Chairman
- Mrs. Ejiroghene Oghale, Vice Chairman
- Austin E. Nyekigbe, Esq, Secretary
- S. G. Okpongu, Esq, Treasurer
- Mrs. Ufuoma Avwaroda-Hitler, Assistant Secretary
The newly elected leaders are committed to advancing the interests and activities of the NBA Udu branch.
